The station traces its origins to 1947, when WCLO-FM signed on the air as a sister station to WCLO, becoming Wisconsin's first network FM station. After operating for several decades under various formats, including a period branded as "Music of Your Life," the station transitioned to a country music format in 1982 under the WJVL call letters.
