KCBF (820 AM) is a commercial radio station in Fairbanks, Alaska, operating a sports talk format through an ESPN Radio affiliation. The station signed on in 1948 as KFRB at 1290 kHz, subsequently moving to 790 kHz in 1953, 900 kHz in 1954, and finally to its current 820 kHz frequency in 1981. KCBF serves as the exclusive radio home of the University of Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks hockey program and provides coverage of UAF men's basketball and select women's basketball games. It previously carried coverage of Fairbanks Grizzlies football. Beyond local sports, KCBF functions as the Fairbanks affiliate for NFL coverage on Westwood One Sports and the NCAA radio network during the Final Four men's basketball tournament. The station also broadcasts on 107.9 FM. Its local programming includes live play-by-play coverage of high school sports, extending its reach beyond collegiate athletics to serve Fairbanks-area prep sports audiences.
