A commercial FM radio station licensed to Buffalo, New York, operating at 99.5 MHz with a Christian talk and teaching format. Owned by Kimtron, Inc., a division of Crawford Broadcasting, the station has broadcast religious programming continuously since signing on February 18, 1963, making it one of the longer-running religious radio operations in the region. The station's call letters reflect its founding history: the "DC" represents Donald B. Crawford, son of evangelist Percy Crawford, who served as the station's original president, while the "X" represents the Christian cross. WDCX-FM operates as a brokered time station, in which nationally known religious figures pay for broadcast segments and solicit listener contributions. Regular on-air hosts include Dr. Charles Stanley, Jim Daly, Chuck Swindoll, and Jay Sekulow. Studios are located in Buffalo's Allentown neighborhood, with the transmitter off Zimmerman Road in Boston, New York. Since 2012, WDCX-FM has been simulcast on WDCZ at 970 AM in Buffalo, and programming is also carried on WDCX at 990 AM in Rochester. The station holds grandfathered "superpower" Class B FM status, operating at 110,000 watts — more than double the current FCC maximum of 50,000 watts for Class B stations. Its signal covers much of Western New York and extends into Canada, reaching listeners in Toronto, Hamilton, and across the Niagara Peninsula of Ontario.
