KLRC operates at 100,000 watts effective radiated power, the maximum permitted for non-grandfathered FM stations. The station signed on October 1, 1983, as a 115-watt outlet at 90.3 MHz, initially serving the John Brown University campus as a training facility for broadcasting students and carrying both Christian radio and classical music programming. The FCC approved a power increase to 3,100 watts in 1988, at which time the frequency was changed from 90.3 to 101.1 MHz.
