The station shares its name with Mix FM, a Malaysian national radio service managed by Astro Radio and launched in January 1997 as one of the first privately owned English-language stations in Malaysia. The Malaysian Mix FM targets listeners aged 25 to 39 with music from the 1990s through the present day and recorded an average weekly audience of 245,000 as of 2015. It has been available via the Astro satellite television service on channel 855 in addition to terrestrial FM frequencies. The station dropped the "FM" suffix from its branding in January 2018 as part of a broader Astro Radio rebranding effort focused on digital platforms, though it subsequently restored the "FM" designation to its jingles from August 2021.
