A non-commercial FM station licensed to Nantucket, Massachusetts, and operated by Nantucket Public Radio, Inc., the station broadcasts a country music format under the brand "89.5 Quahog Country." It is the island's locally owned and operated public radio outlet and supplements country music programming with local news, weather, and community information. The station signed on in 2002 with an adult contemporary format. In April 2003, it entered a programming agreement with the WGBH Educational Foundation, under which WGBH programmed the station as a simulcast of its mixed classical, jazz, folk, and blues service while WNCK remained administratively independent from WGBH's Cape and Islands NPR stations. Following WGBH's acquisition of Boston classical station WCRB in December 2009, WNCK switched to simulcasting WCRB. In June 2014, the station ended that arrangement to serve as a standalone local NPR affiliate for Nantucket, carrying Morning Edition and All Things Considered alongside classical music. On December 28, 2020, WNCK adopted its current country format. The station has since been managed in common with commercial station WAZK and operates as a nonprofit supported by local business underwriting.
