Listener-supported noncommercial radio station broadcasting on 91.9 MHz FM with adult album alternative format. Founded in 1954 by the Louisville Free Public Library as a classical music station and sister to WFPL. In 1975, the station received the entire inventory of classical music recordings from commercial outlet WHAS-FM (later WAMZ-FM) after that station discontinued its nine-year classical run. In 1993, the Free Public Library and the University of Louisville's WUOL-FM merged to form the Public Radio Partnership, now Louisville Public Media. At that time, WFPK adopted its current adult album alternative format, gradually evolving from traditional genres including jazz, folk, and blues toward its present AAA playlist. The station hosts Live Lunch, a weekly performance series featuring local and national acts. Additional programming includes Woody's Roadhouse, a weekend show specializing in heritage R&B, country, blues, rockabilly, and classic Southern quartet gospel.
