Founded in 1976 by Hugo Morales along with Latino activists, farmworkers, and community members, it became the first full-power FM station to deliver culturally and socially relevant news and information to the Spanish-speaking population of California's Central Valley. The network's flagship news service, Noticiero Latino, provides independently produced Spanish-language journalism, while the nationally distributed daily talk program Línea Abierta serves as a forum for Latino communities across the country. Programming also encompasses a broad range of Spanish-language folk music with particular emphasis on Mexican folk traditions and Afro-Caribbean rhythms.
