Studios and offices are located at the Lynn and Joel Carver Center for Public Radio on South School Avenue in downtown Fayetteville. The transmitter is situated on Skelton Road in Wyola, Arkansas, operating at an effective radiated power of 100,000 watts — the maximum permitted for non-grandfathered FM stations — providing coverage across parts of Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri. The station is an NPR member, carrying national programs including Morning Edition, All Things Considered, and Fresh Air with Terry Gross. It also serves as the NPR affiliate for the Fort Smith, Arkansas, market. Locally produced programming includes Ozarks at Large, a weekday magazine program airing at noon and repeated in early evenings, covering regional topics including culture, politics, and community affairs. Late-night hours feature classical music, with jazz and blues programming on Friday and Saturday nights. The station signed on January 5, 1973, as a student-run operation using a 10-watt transmitter on 88.9 MHz, audible only in the immediate university vicinity. In the early 1980s, the university obtained FCC approval to increase power to 60,000 watts and shift to the 91.3 MHz frequency. The more powerful transmitter launched in 1985, establishing the station as Northwest Arkansas' first full-signal public radio service. The station has been a charter NPR member since 1970.
