The 90.9 frequency was transferred to Agape Broadcasting as KNON in 1979, though the station remained silent through 1980. In the mid-1980s, pressure from multiple applicants—most prominently Criswell Bible Institute, which operated KCBI-FM at 89.3 MHz—led to FCC proceedings regarding the 90.9 frequency. The outcome was a swap of frequencies between KCBI and KNON completed in May 1988, placing KNON at its current 89.3 MHz position.
