WCPY is a commercial radio station licensed to Arlington Heights, Illinois, broadcasting on 92.7 FM to the greater Chicago metropolitan area. The station operates under a dual-format arrangement: daytime hours carry a Polish-language programming format under the brand Polski FM, while evening hours shift to a dance music format known as Dance Factory FM. The station is owned by Rhythm Enterprises LLC and transmits from a tower shared with WPPN and WPNA-FM in nearby Buffalo Grove at 1,800 watts. The station has a long broadcasting history dating to March 10, 1960, when it began operating under the call sign WNWC, standing for North West Communities. Early programming included country music, which expanded significantly during the mid-1960s. Ownership changed multiple times over subsequent decades: Bob Atcher and Thomas Hogan purchased it in 1961, Lester Vihon acquired it for $110,000 in 1965, and auto dealer Walter Mack bought it for $150,000 in early 1968. In April 1968 the call sign changed to WEXI, branded as Stereo Excitement, offering easy listening and later progressive rock and top 40 formats. By November 1970, it had adopted a beautiful music format. In autumn 1972, Community Broadcasters acquired it for $230,000, renaming it WWMM and shifting to middle-of-the-road programming. Notable programming during this period included a sex talk show called Love in the Afternoon. The station transitioned through jazz and adult contemporary formats before Northwest Community Broadcasting purchased it in 1976 for $500,000. The call sign later changed to WTCO before eventually evolving into its current identity serving the Polish-American community of the Chicago area.
