KRUA 88.1 FM

KRUA 88.1 FM is the college radio station of the University of Alaska Anchorage, broadcasting from the UAA campus to a transmitter in Eagle River. Its 88.1 FM signal reaches Anchorage AK and part of Alaska’s South Central region, and KRUA streams through its official website. The station began as KMPS, a carrier-current operation heard in student housing and the campus center. It received approval for FM construction in 1991 and began FM service as KRUA in 1992. KRUA is funded by UAA student media fees and run by a small student staff with UAA and Anchorage community volunteers. Programming includes student and community volunteer shows, with music curated by the station’s music department.
