The station is owned by Salem Media Group and operates with an effective radiated power of 50,000 watts, supplemented by four FM translator stations to improve reception across additional Oregon communities. Broadcasting a Christian talk and teaching format, the station shares ownership with co-located KPDQ AM, each operating independent program schedules. Programming features prominent Christian teachers and ministry leaders including Chuck Swindoll, David Jeremiah, Jim Daly, Tony Evans, and John MacArthur, whose broadcasts are produced independently and purchased as airtime from Salem Media. The station first signed on October 8, 1961, originally at 93.7 MHz before relocating one step up the dial to 93.9 MHz in early 2006 as part of a coordinated multi-station frequency realignment in the Portland market.
