A commercial AM radio station licensed to Greenwood, South Carolina, broadcasting on 1450 kHz with one kilowatt of non-directional transmitter power, authorized by the Federal Communications Commission for unlimited hours operation. The station signed on September 1, 1941, and became an early affiliate of the NBC Red Network. Through subsequent decades, WCRS changed ownership and formats multiple times. In 1979, it ended a simulcast relationship with 96.7 FM. Peregon acquired the station in 2006, purchasing it from Pro-Com Communications LLC along with co-owned WHZQ. The station was then purchased in February 2010 by Anne's Entertainment Vision, Inc., its current operator. In May 2016, WCRS extended its reach by beginning FM broadcasting through translator station W253BL. Under current ownership, the station produces several locally originated programs. The morning show "I Love Anne" and the interview program "Meet Me at the Diner" are produced and hosted by station owner Anne Eller, whose background spans country, blues, and interview programming. The Saturday morning program "Trash to Treasures along a Country Road" features classic country and blues music alongside artist profiles and has attracted an international online audience through live streaming. The station has also carried nationally syndicated talk programs including The Rush Limbaugh Show and The Laura Ingraham Show, as well as weekend specialty programs on home improvement, money, and lifestyle topics.
