A non-commercial Christian radio station in Cleveland, Ohio, and one of the foundational owned-and-operated outlets of Moody Radio, the national religious broadcasting network affiliated with the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. WCRF holds historical significance within the network as one of its earliest acquisitions: Moody purchased the station in 1958, making it among the first steps toward building what would become a multi-station operation across the continental United States. Moody Radio grew from the 1925 origins of its flagship station, WMBI, which emerged from a chance performance by two Moody Bible Institute students during a broadcast gap. The network expanded steadily through subsequent decades, reaching 36 stations by the 1960s and a potential audience of 30 million listeners by the end of that decade. A satellite-fed network launched in 1982 enabled distribution of programming nationwide. As part of the Moody Radio network, WCRF carries biblical and Christian-oriented programming around the clock, including teaching segments, talk content, and Christian music. The network's programming catalog includes nationally recognized shows and has received awards within Christian broadcasting. Moody Radio operates 58 owned and operated stations and translators, with hundreds of additional affiliates carrying portions of its output.
