Established in 1948, the station celebrated its 70th anniversary of continuous on-air broadcasting during the 2017-2018 school year. It provides eclectic programming combining music shows with talk programs, sports broadcasts covering university athletics, and student-produced daily newscasts. The station maintains 24/7/365 broadcasting with an online stream plus WMUAx, a secondary online-only stream launched in September 2017.
