WOON is the oldest radio station in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, having first broadcast on November 11, 1946, under the original call sign WWON. The station adopted its current call letters in February 1992. It operates on 1240 kHz at 1,000 watts on an unlimited-hours license, transmitting via a shared tower arrangement. The station follows a full-service format, blending news, talk, and music — primarily oldies and adult contemporary — throughout its broadcast day.
