The station is owned by Stephens Media Group through licensee SMG-Tulsa, LLC, and maintains studios at the CityPlex Towers in Tulsa. Its transmitter is located in Chandler Park in Sand Springs. The station also broadcasts via HD Radio, with an HD2 subchannel carrying contemporary Christian music branded as "Now 94.5" and feeding an FM translator. The station signed on February 22, 1977, at 100.9 MHz, originally serving as a sister station to KXOJ 1550 AM. Over subsequent decades it underwent multiple format and call sign changes, including periods of classical music, soft oldies, adult contemporary, and ultimately a Christian format. The station operated at 100.9 MHz as KTSO, known for a time as "Tulsa's Soft Oldies" and later "94.1 The Breeze." On August 16, 2016, KTSO and KXOJ swapped their formats and call letters, with the 94.1 frequency taking on the KXOJ designation and its Christian AC format, leveraging the higher-power signal for broader regional reach.
