A noncommercial Part 15 AM community radio station that has operated for over two decades, broadcasting a Big Band and jazz format. The station began in 2000 as an FM signal on 100.1 MHz before shifting to the AM band in 2005 following co-channel interference concerns raised by Comcast. It operates on 1610 kHz in Southern Marin County and 1570 kHz in Alameda, with simultaneous carriage on Marin County cable television channels 26, 27, and 30. In June 2015, the station extended its reach via online streaming, subsequently attracting a global audience reported at over 10,000 listeners per month. Programming includes specialty jazz shows such as Jazz Connections, Night Harbor, and Jazz Lounge, alongside culturally distinctive programs including Celluloid Dreams, A Way With Words, and Sausalito's Secret History. The station holds an emergency broadcasting agreement with the city and has partnerships with local newspapers, libraries, and businesses. Its production The Joys Of Jazz received a Bronze trophy for Best Regularly Scheduled Music Program in June 2015. The station broadcasts legally under FCC Title 47 CFR Part 15 regulations governing low-power unlicensed transmitters.
