A commercial FM radio station licensed to St. Joseph, Missouri, operating at 105.5 MHz under the brand name "K-Jo 105-5" with a contemporary hit radio format. The station is owned by Eagle Communications and maintains studios and offices on Country Lane in St. Joseph, with its transmitter located southwest of Wathena, Kansas. The station traces its origins to June 7, 1946, when an AM predecessor signed on at 1230 kHz as KRES with 250 watts of power. The KRES call letters were constructed from the surnames of the station's four founding owners. The AM operation later moved to 1550 kHz with 5,000 watts of power, and in 1961 the call letters changed to KKJO — a reference to "St. Joe" that also honored the wife of then-owner George Marti, a Texas broadcasting equipment manufacturer. The station progressed through middle of the road and Top 40 formats during the 1960s before expanding its footprint. The FM counterpart, KKJO-FM, developed through subsequent decades of ownership and format changes, eventually landing on contemporary hit radio. Eagle Communications, a regional broadcasting company, acquired the station and has continued its operation serving the St. Joseph metropolitan area.
