A non-commercial community radio station operating under the Arkansas Broadcasting Foundation, carrying the nickname "The Voice of the People." Founded in the early 1980s by volunteers affiliated with the Arkansas Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), the station was established as an alternative to the commercially dominant radio formats of the era. It went on air on August 31, 1984, after securing a secondhand transmitter through a fundraising campaign called "Wanna Buy a Watt?" supported by ACORN, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Little Rock, and federal sources. Broadcasting at 91,000 watts from a transmitter at the Shinall Mountain antenna farm near the Chenal Valley neighborhood, the signal reaches a primary coverage radius of approximately 60 miles. The format combines music and talk programming, with a longstanding commitment to diverse genres including jazz, blues, gospel, reggae, and folk, alongside local artists and community groups. The station operates from 2101 South Main Street, sharing a building with ACORN headquarters. Its sister station is KNON in Dallas, Texas. Regular programming blocks have included Garland's Backroads, PowWow, Not Necessarily Bluegrass, and Shoog Radio. Like other public broadcasters, the station relies substantially on listener contributions, conducting periodic pledge drives to sustain operations.
