Programming adopted a full-service format unusual for the era, combining jazz, rock and roll, opera, and talk programming in a single schedule. Evening news broadcasts ran up to ninety minutes and deliberately avoided the space-focused content dominating competing outlets of the time. The station operates entirely on listener donations and carries no commercial advertising, relying on sustaining memberships and one-time contributions to fund operations. Programming spans news, talk, call-in formats, and music, with a political orientation generally ranging from center-left to far-left perspectives. Notable figures associated with the station include science educator David F. Duncan and humorist John Henry Faulk.
