A mainstream rock radio station licensed to Columbus, Georgia, owned by iHeartMedia. The station's origins reach back to 1949, when it signed on as WRBL-FM, simulcasting the programming of AM sister station WRBL-AM and carrying CBS Radio content including pop, country, sports, and local news. Following the 1977 death of longtime owner Jim Woodruff Jr., the AM and FM operations separated; the FM became WVOC and adopted an adult contemporary format before pivoting to country music around 1982, becoming one of the first stations to carry Drake-Chenault's Lite Country format. At the end of 1984 it converted to contemporary hit radio as WNKS, branded as 102.9 Kiss FM. The station took its current call letters WVRK in 1989 and has carried a mainstream rock format since. Ownership passed through M&M Partners and Cumulus Media before Clear Channel Communications, now iHeartMedia, acquired it in 2000. Studios are located east of downtown Columbus, while the transmitter sits in Cusseta, Georgia, south of Fort Benning.
