A secondary digital channel of WAMC-FM (90.3 FM), a listener-supported non-commercial public radio station licensed to Albany, New York. WAMC-FM is owned and operated by WAMC Northeast Public Radio, a charitable educational broadcaster organized under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The station's primary signal covers the Capital District, eastern New York State, southern Vermont, western Massachusetts, and the Litchfield Hills region of Connecticut, with its transmitter located atop Mount Greylock in Adams, Massachusetts. WAMC-FM first signed on in October 1958, originally established by Albany Medical Center and Albany Medical College — the source of its call sign. In 1981 the station became an independent institution, severing its formal affiliation with the medical school. The station formats around news and talk programming, with specialty music programs on weekends. Unlike many public radio stations that rely primarily on national network content, WAMC produces five to six hours of weekday programming in-house. It is a member station of National Public Radio, American Public Media, and the Public Radio Exchange, and carries BBC World Service programming overnight. The station operates The Linda, WAMC's Performing Arts Studio, adjacent to its Central Avenue studios in Albany. The facility serves as a performance and recording venue for regional arts programming. Sarah Gilbert serves as CEO and president, succeeding Alan Chartock, who led the organization for more than four decades before retiring in 2023.
