A non-commercial FM radio station licensed to Thousand Oaks, California, serving Ventura County and extending its reach across California's South Coast and Central Coast regions through a network of repeater and translator stations. Owned and operated by California Lutheran University, KCLU-FM is a member of NPR and carries flagship programs including Morning Edition, All Things Considered, Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me!, Here and Now, and Fresh Air with Terry Gross, alongside The World from PRX, This American Life, and the BBC World Service. The station first signed on October 20, 1994, initially combining news and talk with jazz programming before shifting to an all-news and talk format by the late 2000s. In 2008, California Lutheran University acquired KIST (1340 AM) in Santa Barbara for $1.44 million, converting it to non-commercial educational status and rebranding it KCLU. A further acquisition in 2013 brought KHFR in Santa Maria into the network, subsequently renamed KCLM and placed in simulcast with KCLU-FM.
