The station operates under ownership of iHeartMedia, which controls eight radio stations in the Tampa Bay region. Studios are located on Feather Sound Drive in Clearwater, with transmitter facilities in Riverview. The station broadcasts in HD Radio technology with its HD2 subchannel carrying classic hip-hop programming from co-owned WBTP. The frequency has undergone several format changes throughout its history. The station originally signed on in November 1963 as WBRD-FM on 103.3 MHz in Bradenton, initially simulcasting sister station WBRD AM before adopting a beautiful music format. In 1973, the station rebranded as WDUV "The Dove," continuing the easy listening format into the 1990s. In the early 1990s, the station moved to 103.5 FM to improve Tampa Bay market coverage. On April 5, 1999, WDUV swapped frequencies with classic rock station WTBT, which took over the 103.5 position. WTBT had launched on March 14, 1995, on 105.5 FM with a "Thunder 103.5" classic rock format featuring morning host Ron Diaz and carrying The Bob and Tom Show. On April 13, 2005, the station flipped to its current country format as WFUS, branding as "US 103.5" and positioning itself against veteran country outlet WQYK. Current programming includes The Bobby Bones Show in morning drive, along with hosts including Ashley, Scotty Davis, Aaron Michael, and Michelle Buckles. The station brands itself as "Tampa Bay's #1 For New Country," emphasizing contemporary country music over traditional styles. WFUS served as the official flagship station of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFL team from 2004 to 2016, before games moved to co-owned rock station WXTB.
