About WMIC-AM 660
WMIC-AM 660 streams live from Sandusky, United States, on Tuninga Radio.
This radio station specializes in Variety music.
A full-service AM radio station licensed in Sandusky, Michigan, WMIC operates at 660 kHz with a power output of 1,000 watts. The station covers Sanilac County and the broader Thumb region of Michigan. It is owned by Sanilac/GB Broadcasting and shares studios on Elk Street in downtown Sandusky with sister stations WTGV and WBGV. Programming is also simulcast on FM translator W237EQ at 95.3 MHz, which carries a 250-watt effective radiated power and provides city-grade FM coverage. The transmitter and translator facilities are co-located south of Sandusky along Cooper Road in Sanilac County. Due to its low dial position and corresponding long wavelength, the station delivers a strong signal across eastern Michigan and into western Ontario. On clear days, reception has been reported as far as Roscommon, Ann Arbor, and Lansing. In compliance with FCC regulations protecting WFAN in New York City — a 50,000-watt clear channel station — WMIC's AM signal signs off at sunset. The FM translator, however, continues broadcasting during nighttime hours under separate FCC translator rules. The station's history dates to May 10, 1965, when a construction permit was granted to operate at 1560 kHz. Studios were established at 19 South Elk Street in downtown Sandusky prior to sign-on, which was ultimately delayed until 1968. The call letters were assigned in October 1965 and were previously associated with a defunct station in St. Helen, Michigan.
