Branded as 1450 AM WLEC, the station operates an oldies and full-service format owned by BAS Broadcasting, based in Fremont, Ohio. Its service area covers the Sandusky, Port Clinton, and Lake Erie Islands market — a region collectively known as Vacationland and the Firelands — encompassing Erie, Ottawa, and Huron counties. The station carries several major sports affiliations, including the Cleveland Guardians and the Cleveland Cavaliers, as well as NFL coverage through Westwood One and Ohio State University athletic broadcasts. Local high school football and basketball games are also featured on a weekly basis. WLEC first signed on December 7, 1947, as a Mutual Broadcasting System affiliate operating on 1450 kHz with 250 watts. Early in its history it became a charter affiliate of the Cleveland Indians Radio Network, and it has maintained that affiliation — the longest-tenured in the network — across ownership changes spanning more than seven decades. The station's studios and transmitter are co-located in a Quonset hut east of Sandusky's downtown.
