KZUU operates as an educational non-commercial service with a student-led programming format. The station actively recruits student volunteers as DJs, welcoming participants regardless of prior broadcasting experience. Its programming reflects the interests of the student body and the broader university community. In addition to music programming, KZUU accepts underwriting support from local businesses and campus organizations in exchange for on-air mentions, consistent with non-commercial broadcasting guidelines.
