The station has broadcast continuously since March 15, 1950, when it was founded by Leslie Goodaker, a former engineer at WOMI in Owensboro. Goodaker and his wife Mayme operated the station for more than four decades before selling it in 1993. The station has changed ownership several times since, passing through DART Inc., Commonwealth Broadcasting, and Tiger Media before reaching its present owner in 2018.
