WPGW-FM began broadcasting on May 19, 1975, and adopted a country music format in 1980. In January 2025, WPGW, Inc. filed applications with the FCC for the transfer of control of both the AM and FM licenses from Robert A. Weaver and Martha M. Weaver to Mark L. King.
