The station is owned by Pasadena City College and operated by Southern California Public Radio (SCPR), a subsidiary of American Public Media Group. It serves as an affiliate of both National Public Radio and Public Radio Exchange, originating some of its own programming. SCPR reported serving more than 527,000 listeners weekly as of 2023, making it one of the most-listened-to public radio operations in California. The station's signal primarily covers Greater Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley, with additional reach through rebroadcasting and translator stations extending coverage to Santa Barbara, the Coachella Valley, Palm Springs, Ventura County, and portions of the Inland Empire.
