A commercial AM radio station broadcasting at 650 kHz and owned by Ryman Hospitality Properties, Inc. Known by the nickname "The Air Castle of the South," the station operates with 50,000 watts around the clock from a transmitter facility in Brentwood, Tennessee, giving it one of the largest daytime coverage areas in the country. Its clear-channel nighttime signal reaches much of North America. The station broadcasts a country music format with classic country and Americana leanings, the latter branded as "Route 650." It has been the broadcast home of the Grand Ole Opry — the world's longest-running radio program — since the Opry's inception. After nearly four decades broadcasting from a studio within the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center, the station relocated in July 2024 to a showcase studio inside the former home of country music legend Roy Acuff, adjacent to the Grand Ole Opry House. Programming includes the weekday morning show Coffee, Country and Cody, hosted by Bill Cody since 1998; the show has simulcast on the Circle television network since January 2020. Other programming includes a weekend gospel hour hosted by Larry Gatlin of the Gatlin Brothers, Tracy Lawrence's syndicated Honky Tonkin' program (flagshipped at the station since 2015), and a monthly show hosted by Dailey and Vincent. Chris Scruggs, grandson of Earl Scruggs, hosts a weekly program. The station serves as the National Primary Entry Point for the Emergency Alert System in Middle Tennessee and also reaches a global audience via internet simulcast.
