The station airs a classic rock format under the branding "Everything That Rocks." It originally signed on in September 1972 as KNIM-FM, simulcasting the programming of AM 1580 KNIM, and initially broadcast at 95.3 MHz before moving to its current frequency. The call sign was changed to KVVL on August 4, 2010, reflecting its branding as "the Ville." Regional Media acquired the station on December 31, 2021, from Nodaway Broadcasting, which had held ownership since 1996. Following the ownership change, the station briefly adopted an alternative rock format with The Bob and Tom Show in morning drive, rebranding as "Real Alternative Radio" in January 2022. On November 14, 2023, the station returned to its classic rock roots.
