A commercial active rock radio station broadcasting at 106.1 FM, licensed to Charlotte, Michigan, and serving the greater Lansing radio market. The station is owned by Midwest Communications and operates studios and offices on Cedar Street in Holt, with the transmitter located on Prime Road in Springport. The station first signed on the air in 1964 as WKHM-FM, simulcasting the middle-of-the-road format of its sister station WKHM (970 AM) for the Jackson Broadcasting and TV Corporation. The simulcast arrangement ended in 1976 when the frequency adopted the call letters WJOX and transitioned to an automated Stereo Rock top 40 format supplied by TM Programming. This format was maintained until 1981, when the transmitter relocated to Springport and power increased to 50,000 watts in preparation for serving the larger Lansing market. Subsequent format and ownership changes followed over the coming decades before the station settled into its current active rock identity under the Q106 brand, with the WJXQ call letters assigned by the Federal Communications Commission. Weekday mornings open with The Bob and Tom Show, syndicated from Indianapolis. Local disc jockeys fill the remaining weekday dayparts, while weekends feature nationally syndicated specialty programs including The House of Hair with Dee Snider, Racing Rocks with Riki Rachtman, and Hard Drive with Lou Brutus. Community involvement includes a concert calendar highlighting regional live music events, charitable partnerships with veterans organizations, and the Homegrown Throwdown feature spotlighting local artists. A podcast under the Warfighters United banner also extends the station's content beyond its broadcast signal.
