K 105.3 - WKHM-FM

A Contemporary Hit Radio station licensed to Brooklyn, Michigan, the WKHM callsign carries a long tradition in the Jackson area. The call letters derive from the initials of the original owners of the AM predecessor: Fred Knorr, Harvey Hansen, and Bill McCoy. An earlier WKHM-FM operated on 106.1 MHz before becoming WJXQ; the current incarnation signed on in 1995 under a different format identity. At launch, the station programmed easy listening music under the brand "Easy Relaxed 105.3," blending adult contemporary hits, soft oldies, and smooth jazz. It was among the last stations in Michigan to carry such a format. In early 1998 the easy listening format was dropped and the contemporary hit radio identity under the K105.3 branding was established. The station operates with HD Radio capability. Its HD2 subchannel has carried sports talk programming branded as "Fox Sports 101.9," with content drawn from Fox Sports Radio and relayed via FM translator 101.9 W270CJ. That subchannel switched affiliations from ESPN Radio to Fox Sports Radio on October 1, 2020. An HD2 country music subchannel was launched on May 1, 2014, branded as "Hot Country 101.5" and relayed on translator W268CA at 101.5 FM; that country programming later migrated to WIBM 1450 AM and translator 95.9 W240DG, with 101.5 subsequently simulcasting WKHM 970 AM. The station is licensed under FCC Facility ID 9247.
