This radio station offers diverse programming.
A commercial radio station broadcasting an adult contemporary format and owned locally by WRNJ Radio, Inc. The station's primary transmission is on AM 1510, with studios and offices on U.S. Route 46 in Hackettstown, New Jersey. Programming is simulcast across FM translators at 92.7, 104.7, and 105.7 MHz. WRNJ began its broadcast history on AM 1000 on August 26, 1976, originally licensed to Dover, New Jersey, operating as a daytime-only station with a full-service adult contemporary format emphasizing local news and community affairs. For several years the station operated unprofitably, but stabilized in the early 1980s under the management of Norman Worth, who eventually became part owner and Chief Operating Officer. In 1992, the ownership was awarded an FM license, launching WRNJ-FM at 107.1 MHz with a country music format. In 1996, WRNJ received FCC approval to relocate from AM 1000 to AM 1510, a move precipitated by Westinghouse Broadcasting's plans to improve the signal of New York City's WINS at 1010 kHz. Because AM 1510 is a clear channel frequency reserved for Class A station WLAC in Nashville, WRNJ operates at 2,000 watts during the day and must reduce to 230 watts at night. In addition to music and local programming, the station maintains an active local news operation, covering events across northwestern New Jersey including Sussex, Morris, and Warren counties, publishing regular updates on community affairs, law enforcement, and municipal governance.
