A college radio station operated by Volunteer State Community College, broadcasting at 88.5 MHz on the FM dial. The station falls under the oversight of the college's Department of Communication and is managed by Marconi Award-winning faculty. Its airstaff is composed of students enrolled in the Radio and TV Broadcasting program as well as community volunteers. Programming is built around a classic hits format spanning recordings from the mid-1960s through the early 2000s. The station's facilities were severely damaged on April 7, 2006, when a tornado struck the campus during a major regional outbreak, destroying or heavily water-damaging most studio equipment on the second floor of Noble Caudill Hall. After briefly returning to limited operation within days of the storm, the station eventually relocated to a newly constructed studio in the Ramer Administration Building, resuming full operations during the Spring 2007 semester. An earlier incident involving straight-line winds also toppled the station's transmission tower north of campus, forcing a temporary shutdown until a replacement tower was erected at a new location. The station broadcasts using HD radio technology. The primary HD channel carries a digital version of the main analog signal, while the secondary HD channel offers a current country format with music researched by students. The station also works with the college's recording program to air projects produced by students, and airs a weekly program featuring locally produced country music. The HD2 channel is simultaneously streamed online.
