The station holds a technical distinction recognized by the FCC: it is the only AM radio station in North America that operates on two different frequencies, broadcasting at 690 AM during daytime hours and switching to 680 AM at night. Its transmitter is located off Will Carleton Road in Huron Charter Township, Michigan. The station signed on October 12, 1985, with Westland, Michigan as its original city of license.
