Broadcasting at 100.9 FM under the brand name Coast Country 100.9, this commercial station is licensed to Clyde, Ohio, located approximately fifteen miles west-southwest of Sandusky. It operates with an effective radiated power of 3,000 watts and serves the Sandusky, Port Clinton, and Lake Erie Islands area, a region collectively referred to as Vacationland. The station is owned by BAS Broadcasting, which acquired it as part of a purchase of former Clear Channel Communications properties on January 15, 2008, with operations commencing February 1 of that year. The station also functions as the regional affiliate of the Cleveland Browns Radio Network for the Vacationland area. The station signed on July 16, 1981 as WMEX, founded by Family Broadcasting and Communications Corporation under general manager Erasmo Cruz Sr., with a blend of middle-of-the-road and Spanish-language programming. The call letters changed to WLCO in February 1985, and Spanish-language content was reduced in favor of adult contemporary music. By 1992 the format had transitioned to country. The station's call letters became WMJK after a subsequent ownership change. In January 2009, a longtime classic rock format was dropped in favor of country music using the Waitt Radio Networks Country Today satellite format, establishing the current programming identity.
