Flagship station of Moody Radio, one of the largest Christian radio networks in the United States. Located in downtown Chicago, Moody Radio operates 58 owned and operated stations and translators with hundreds of additional affiliates and outlets. The network is owned by the Moody Bible Institute. The station traces its origins to October 1925 when a violent storm created an unexpected opportunity for two Moody Bible Institute music students to perform on air, leading to the establishment of the first noncommercial educational and religious radio station less than a year later. Programming includes 24-hour biblical content with popular shows such as Equipped with Chris Brooks, Chris Fabry Live!, In the Market with Janet Parshall, and Open Line with Dr. Michael Rydelnik. Music programming includes Music Thru the Night broadcast from 11 PM to 5 AM. The network expanded significantly from 1958 onward with strategic station acquisitions and satellite-fed network implementation in 1982, enabling nationwide communications.
