An NPR-member public radio station licensed to Chatsworth, Georgia, owned and operated by Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB), which provides all programming via its statewide radio network. The station's transmitter is located atop a mountain in the west-southwestern portion of Fort Mountain State Park, co-sited with sister television station WNGH-TV following a tower move in May 2008. Despite transmitting at a relatively modest 420 watts, the elevation of 1,778 feet above average terrain allows the station to provide city-grade coverage to much of far northern Georgia, including Dalton, and secondary coverage across much of the Chattanooga, Tennessee metropolitan area. The station began as a commercial operation on November 13, 1976, under the call sign WQMT, owned by Cohutta Broadcasting Company, airing a classic country format branded as "Georgia 99." On December 21, 2007, North Georgia Radio Group entered an agreement to sell the station to the Foundation for Public Broadcasting in Georgia, a GPB-affiliated entity. GPB assumed programming on January 2, 2008, transitioning the station to public radio. The FCC approved the sale on April 9, 2008. On June 30, 2016, the Foundation donated the station directly to the Georgia Public Telecommunications Commission, making GPB the direct licensee.
