The station is currently owned by Burgess Broadcasting Corporation and holds its city of license in Cedartown, Georgia. The station's history dates to 1941, when the Lam Entertainment Company — which operated movie theaters throughout the American South — launched it alongside the West Cinema Theater on the same day. Studios were initially located on West Avenue, in a second-story space adjoining the West Theater. In the early 1950s, operations moved to the current site on Lakeview Drive, north of Cedartown. The station's longevity makes it one of the older continuously operating AM outlets in the region. Programming features classic country music drawn from the 1960s through the 1990s, anchored by familiar artists across multiple decades of the genre's history. Beyond music, the station serves as the broadcast home for Cedartown High School athletics, carrying football, basketball, softball, and baseball. Local programming staples include the Grapevine and the long-running Trading Post, a program described as "world-famous" by the station's own account. The FM translator on 106.1 MHz, designated W291DN, was added in August 2018 to expand the station's reach across the area.
