In 1984, it gained distinction as the world's first radio station to broadcast compact discs. The station maintains a playlist balancing classic rock from the 1970s and 1980s with active rock from subsequent decades, establishing itself as a consistent top-rated outlet in its market. Currently owned by Beasley Broadcast Group, the station broadcasts in HD Radio with multiple sub-channels while maintaining local live programming.
