An AM radio station licensed to Hopkinsville, Kentucky, operating in simulcast with WKDZ 1110 AM on an oldies format branded around classic popular music. Both stations are owned by Ham Broadcasting Co., Inc. and carry news programming from Fox News Radio. WHVO, which broadcasts continuously around the clock, traces its origins to September 19, 1954, when it signed on as WKOA under the Pennyrile Broadcasting Company, a division of the Kentucky New Era newspaper. The station operated under a middle-of-the-road format through the 1970s before transitioning to big band and oldies in the mid-1980s. Following a series of ownership and call sign changes—including WYKH in 1986 and WQKS in 1987—the station was acquired by Ham Broadcasting in October 1995. An urban contemporary format was replaced with oldies programming in October 1997, and the current WHVO call sign was adopted in May 2000. Studio facilities are shared with WKDZ-FM near the junction of US 68 and Interstate 24 in Cadiz, while WHVO's transmitter is situated near the Western Kentucky State Fairgrounds in Hopkinsville.
