A commercial FM radio station licensed to Atlantic Beach, Florida, serving the Jacksonville metropolitan area at 104.5 MHz. The station broadcasts a news-talk format under the brand name News 104.5 WOKV and is owned by Cox Media Group. Studios are located on Central Parkway in the Southside district of Jacksonville, while the transmitter is situated on Hogan Road near Southside Boulevard. The station signed on in July 1967 as WAQB-FM, broadcasting at 104.9 MHz as the FM counterpart of WKTX AM, simulcasting a middle-of-the-road music format at 3,000 watts. Around 1970 the call letters changed to WJNJ-FM. In 1979, the frequency shifted to 104.5 MHz with a substantial power increase to 100,000 watts, and the station was relicensed as WFYV, extending its coverage across Jacksonville's suburbs and into areas of southeastern Georgia, St. Augustine, and Gainesville. On March 10, 1980, WFYV launched an album rock format as Rock 105. The station gradually shifted toward classic rock over subsequent years. Following a format change at competing rock outlet WPLA in 2010, WFYV repositioned under the name Rock 104.5 as a mainstream rock station. The station carried syndicated programming including Lex and Terry and Bubba The Love Sponge during this era. The station broadcasts in HD Radio. Its HD2 subchannel carries an alternative rock format, which also feeds FM translator W258CN at 99.5 MHz.
