Public radio station broadcasting from Savannah, Georgia, operated by Georgia Public Broadcasting with 96,000 watts of power. Established by local residents as Georgia Public Radio in 1981 to serve the Savannah area, the station merged with Peach State Public Radio in 1988. Simulcast by WWIO-FM 88.9 in Brunswick, the two stations provide coverage from Beaufort, South Carolina, to Fernandina Beach, Florida. The station moved to the Skidaway Institute of Oceanography in 1997 and to Armstrong State University in 2011. Programming includes classical music formats with overnight classical blocks, and produced local shows including Celtic programming and folk music offerings for the GPB network.
