A noncommercial educational FM station owned by Ohio University, serving as the flagship of a five-station network known as Ohio University Public Radio. Studios and offices are located on South College Street in Athens, with the transmitter co-sited with the university's television facility. Daytime programming consists primarily of news and informational content drawn from NPR, featuring nationally recognized programs including Morning Edition, All Things Considered, Here and Now, 1A, and Fresh Air with Terry Gross. Evening hours shift to music programming spanning adult album alternative, bluegrass, Americana, and world music genres. Nighttime music shows include Crossing Boundaries, World Cafe, The Thistle & Shamrock, Afropop Worldwide, and Mountain Stage. The station traces its origins to 1942, when it launched as WOUI, a carrier current operation broadcasting from Ewing Hall on the Ohio University campus.
