This radio station is a pioneer in cumbia and southern folklore. Its origins trace back to 1954 when Radio Restauración was acquired and renamed Radio INCA del Perú, featuring popular, vernacular music, and a special program for the Japanese community. During the 1980s, the station catered to a younger generation seeking an identity that blended Andean vernacular music with tropical rhythms and rock, leading to the emergence of Andean cumbia. The station embraced global trends like disco, positioning itself in the youth market. In the 1990s, a new proposal emerged with INCA SAT F.M., broadcasting "Tropicalandina" and "Techno Cumbia," a fusion of Caribbean, Andean, and rock elements. Later, Radio Bacán Sat was launched by Corporación Plus y Plus to provide a musical space for the children of Andean immigrants, focusing on Tropical Pop or Latin Pop. The station highlights how popular music themes, such as those about truck drivers or unfaithful partners, create a connection with listeners, making the music an integral part of their lives. In recent times, the influence of southern musical styles has become prominent, representing a new wave of folklore and cumbia.
