A country music station broadcasting at 105.9 FM, licensed to Portales, New Mexico, and serving the Clovis area of the eastern New Mexico plains. The station is currently owned by Richard Hudson through licensee Global One Media, Inc. The call letters KSEL carry a notable history in western Texas and eastern New Mexico radio. The designation was originally held by stations in Lubbock, Texas — both on 93.7 FM and 950 AM — from 1956 until 1986, when those stations were sold and rebranded. The current 105.9 FM signal in Portales was assigned the call sign KKHJ when it launched in November 1986, then adopted the KSEL call letters in October 1988, inheriting the identity from the defunct Lubbock stations. During the mid-1970s through mid-1980s, the Lubbock-era KSEL-FM was owned by Harris Enterprises of Hutchinson, Kansas, and operated first as an automated Top 40 outlet before transitioning to simulcast with its AM counterpart. Between 1981 and 1985, it ranked as one of the leading contemporary stations in the Lubbock market. Harris Enterprises sold the stations in 1986 to Bakke Communications of Midland, Texas, which subsequently changed the format to country and the call sign to KKIK. Bakke Communications filed for bankruptcy in 1995.
